Yuzhou, a large city in China, is on a strict lockdown. The lockdown comes after three asymptomatic coronavirus infections were detected. The country is pursuing a “zero covid” policy in hopes to minimize outbreaks.
Almost all vehicles have been banned from the roads and guards are placed at residential community gates to ensure no one leaves. Non-essential businesses are ordered to close and public transportation has been suspended.
Yuzhou is the second Chinese city to be placed under this strict lockdown. Chinese officials deemed this necessary as they battle their country’s worst Covid-19 since early 2020.
China is set to host the Winter Olympics in February. It’s unclear how they will manage their commitment to “zero Covid”.
