The city of Dallas announced it is filing a lawsuit in regards to last month’s concert shooting that killed one person and injured 16 others.

They are suing a church, which owned the property where the event was held. The lawsuit also mentions the concert’s promoter.

The Dallas City Attorney’s Office said in a press release Wednesday that a lawsuit was filed against the property owner, who was identified as St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Inc., and the promoter, Germaud L. Lyons aka Bossman Bubba.

The shooting was at a large, unpermitted, outdoor event called the Epic Easter Bike Out and Field Party on Cleveland Road on April 2-3.

The city wants the lawsuit to address the ongoing violations of city codes. They hope for civil penalties and to prevent it from happening again.

Since the shooting, the Dallas Fort Worth Trail Riders Association has been meeting with DPD to ensure the safety of their events.

The lawsuit comes after an investigation by the city into the shooting.
