Collin County Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Domestic Violence

A Collin County man was sentenced to life in prison after brutally attacking and kidnapping his pregnant girlfriend.

According to reports, the victim was 7 months pregnant and dating Apolonio Rodriguez, 33, of Celina.

During their relationship it was said that he attacked the victim with a golf club, extension cord, knife, mug, and his hands and feet inside their home.

After assaulting her he forcefully took her to his relatives home where they stayed for several days.

As a result, she suffered extensive bruising on her body along with lacerations to her head and a shattered elbow.

When the victim didn’t show up for work and family members couldn’t reach her they sent authorities to perform a welfare check.

After several days of searching Celina police found Rodriquez and the victim hiding in the attic of his relatives home.

Rodriguez had a previous warrant out for his arrest for shooting a former girlfriend. He was immediately arrested and found guilty by a jury on Friday, April 1, 2022.

Authorities said Rodriguez had assaulted several women over a course of 15 years.

Due to the nature and severity of domestic abuse he has done the judge sentenced Rodriguez to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
