Thanks to Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA)and Congressman Jaamal  Bowman (D-NY), congress will now declare November as its first National Hip Hop History month.

The  resolution first came into existence in July. It also features many other genres that helped expand American culture.

Furthermore, August 11 will be Hip Hop Celebration Day. This will commemorate the first hip-hop DJ parties that transpired on the same day in 1973.

The Universal Hip Hop Museum has started a “Know Ya Hip Hop ” campaign. All month it will honor National Hip Hop History Month. It’s goal is to urge the public to become more familiar with hip-hop and its “cultural history.” Through this, a person could be more aware of hip-hop’s spirit, the complexity, innovation, and the social equity involved in it.

The museum was started by Kurtis Blow, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Nas, and many more.
