Dallas Officer Placed On Administrative Leave After Shooting At An Unarmed Man

A Dallas police officer has been placed on administrative leave after shooting at an unarmed man.
Officers responded to a disturbance call on the 9700 block of Rustown Dr on September 2.
Witnesses told the 911 operator that there was a man sitting outside smoking, drinking and firing a handgun in the air.
Upon arrival officers saw a man in an orange shirt sitting on the sidewalk.
Officer Branson Grisham drew his weapon and began approaching the man.
During that time a chase ensued down an alley and Grisham gave commands to the man while his back was turned.
He told investigators the man was “manipulating something in his front waistband.”
Grisham fired one shot missing the man.
The man was detained and no weapons were found on him.
He was questioned and released.
Grisham is a six year veteran of the department.
He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
