Dallas Police Officer Charged With DWI Following Release From Hospital

A Dallas police officer was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his vehicle into a tree on Thursday.

Sergeant Michael Patino, 48, with the Dallas Police Department, was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Arlington.

At 1 a.m. on Thursday, Arlington police officers responded to a crash at the 6900 block of Russell Curry Road. When they arrived, they found a white Dodge Ram pickup crashed into a tree.

The driver of the pickup, Sergeant Patino, was transported from the scene for treatment of his injuries.

According to Arlington Police, through their investigation, they learned that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The driver of the pickup, Patino, was to be charged with DWI once he was released from the hospital.

Sergeant Patino, a 24-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, is assigned to Love Field Unit’s Special Operations Division.

He was placed on administrated leave pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation.
