Deborah Gatewood,63 had been working at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hill, Michigan for thirty-one years drawing blood blood.
Where she had developed a cough and a fever the third week in march.
She went to her hospital hoping for some medical aid, they sent her home with cough medicine and told her to get some rest.
“They sent her home saying you are showing signs of COVID-19,” as stated by her daughter Kaila Corrothers. After confirming that she had the same symptoms as the Coronavius, they did not test her to officially confirm it.
After weeks of trying to receive help with her illness Deborah Gatewood eventually collapsed and rushed immediately to Sinai-Grace Hospital. Here she spent the remainder of her days before she passed away.
Deborah Gatewood was only two years away from retiring and becoming a full time grandmother. She postponed her retirement because “she’s going to hang in there for a couple more years and she said going for a couple more years and she said she is going to retire and be the greatest nanny I need her to be,” stated by her daughter Kaila Corrothers.
