A 10 year old child is dead and two other children injured after their car was struck by a drunk driver Monday morning.
According to reports a male driving a 2020 gray four door Nissan Sentra was driving eastbound on the 2500 block of Missouri Avenue with three children ages 10, 11, and 13 around 7:20am.
When a 47 year old driver of a blue 2013 Mazda sedan was traveling northbound on Maryland Avenue, disregarded the stop sign and crashed into the left passenger side of the Nissan.
The Mazda continued traveling northbound striking a fence on the east side of the road and backing into another fence on the west side before coming to a complete stop.
The children were all transported to a nearby hospital where the 10 year old was pronounced dead.
The condition of the driver in the Nissan is unknown at this time.
The driver of the Mazda was also transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. He is also being investigated for intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.
