An ex-outside linebacker for the Detroit Lions, Jessie Lemonier, has died at the age of 25.

The details regarding his death are unknown at this time.

“Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon,” the Lions stated on social media.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Lemonier, who attended Liberty University, was an undrafted free agent. At the institution, he was the third player in Flames history to document 10 or more sacks in a season.

In 2020, the Los Angeles Chargers chose him subsequent to the NFL Draft. Lemonier played in 6 games prior to being waived in August 2021.

He then signed with the Lions’ practice squad a month following that and earned a spot on the active roster. He was in 7 games and made 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Lemonier also played for the Arizona Cardinals for a short time.

In December 2022, he signed with the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League. After that he was traded to the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, and their season was set to start this April.
