A woman was killed early Monday morning after she crashed into a retired off duty police officers suv.
The incident happened on the 8800 block of Julius Schepps Freeway around 4:30am.
The retired officer was working security for a road crew on northbound 9000 Julius Schepps Freeway. He was blocking the roadway with his emergency lights activated.
The woman was driving on the freeway when she switched lanes and collided into the back of the officers suv.
Emergency crews arrived and pronounced the woman driver dead at the scene. The officer was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
This investigation remains ongoing.
