A Georgia inmate was injured Thursday night after he accidentally shot himself with a deputies gun.
The incident happened at the Wellstar Douglas Hospital when an inmate was receiving medical attention and tried to escape.
A Douglas County deputy says the suspect attempted to escape the hospital and the two began to tussle and the suspect grabbed the deputies gun and fired it, striking himself.
The deputy was not injured and the inmate was treated for non life threatening injuries.
The GBI is investigating the incident.
