An individual went missing after going on an expedition October 18 on Mount Elbert in Colorado.
When rescuers attempted to call them several times to find out where they were, they wouldn’t answer the phone. The person later said that they didn’t answer the phone because an unknown number was showing up.
The hiker had somehow gone off a trail and had been searching for the right way to go all night. After 24 hours, they finally got back on the right path and found their vehicle.
The person had no idea that people were looking for them.
“If you’re overdue according to your itinerary, and you start getting repeated calls from an unknown number, please answer the phone. It may be a team trying to confirm you’re safe,” a rescuer noted.
