Mike Grier has become the first African American GM in the National Hockey League’s history.

On Tuesday, Grier announced his sign with the San Jose Sharks as General Manager. The former pro-hockey player retired after playing 14 record breaking seasons.

Prior to his new title, Grier held the title as the first African American pro-hockey player to exclusively train in the U.S.

Mike Grier’s brother, Chris Grier, is a General Manager as well. Chris has been the GM for NFL’s Miami Dolphins since 2016.
