A debate is taking place over whether full-figured women should be hired at Hooters while wearing the revealing uniforms.
“My girls and I wanted to make a statement with our Halloween look this year. Hooters typically discriminates against bigger women. But I figured showing up and showing out in the Hooters uniform would help spread the message. You don’t have to be a size 2 to do you in a sexy and confident way,” said plus-size Influencer Chynna Turner.
Turner is a part of a group called “Big Dolls” from Mississippi. Videos and pictures on the internet show the women posing in front of a Hooters restaurant with the uniform on, that were used as costumes.
“The world’s first plus-sized Hooters just opened,” one user jokingly posted online.
Although untrue, the video has been seen over 5.5 million times since Thursday.
Hooters has said that looks are an essential part of the hiring process. Many hope that they will reevaluate their hiring criteria to be more inclusive of all women.
