On Monday afternoon, close to 1:30 p.m., a purse snatcher dragged a disabled person across a lawn after ambushing her. The incident was captured on Ring video.
Houston police are now searching for the suspect. Additionally, doctors have told the woman’s relatives that the occurrence almost caused the woman to have a heart attack.
The 59-year-old unidentified woman had been getting groceries out of her vehicle when the thief pulled up and approached her. The woman had still been holding onto her purse, so the man pulled her down to the ground and dragged her until she loosened her grip.
“These individuals know who they are preying on. This is probably the lowest form of way to try to make a living or try to get ahead in life,” stated the son of the victim.
He added that his mother is suffering from mental and physical trauma and had to be hospitalized overnight.
Investigators believe that the suspect followed the woman home after she left an ATM machine at a credit union.
The woman’s son said that the thief took off with about $1,000.
Authorities are now searching for the suspect who they say was driving a silver Toyota Venza SUV with a hatchback.
