Jayden Buckley, 15, has been selling water, in Houston, to raise money for school supplies to assist his mother.
Now, he is being honored for his efforts.
He says it all began with a generous woman. “When the first lady gave me $100, I almost had a heart attack. I never thought that was going to happen. And then, a ton of people started to pull up.”
When the generous woman posted pictures of Jayden on social media, Houston rapper Trae tha Truth saw it. He took Jayden and his three siblings back-to-school-shopping.
Jamaica, Jayden’s mom, is a widow with 4 kids. She said she has been struggling since moving from Atlanta in April. She has been unsuccessful in finding employment.
Community activist, Joseph Capo Dinnon, praised Jayden by saying, “He’s out here doing something a lot of kids aren’t trying to do…As a community, we got his back.”
