A Houston teen with special needs passed away Sunday after being brutally attacked in Harris County jail by another inmate.
According to reports, Fred Harris,19 was in a holding cell with Michael Ownby,25 Friday night when the unprovoked attack occurred.
Ownby bashed Harris’s head on the concrete, then kicked him and stabbed him with a sharp eating utensil.
Harris was transported to a local hospital where he passed away Sunday from his injuries.

Harris had no prior criminal record and had been living on the streets since May, when he left his mother’s home.
He was arrested on October 11, for assault with a deadly weapon.
Ownby had been in jail since October 28, for assault on a peace officer and he had a misdemeanor warrant for harassing his mother.
Ownby has been charged with aggravated assault, serious bodily injury.
Charges could be upgraded pending the outcome of the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
