Houston’s strip club Onyx opened its doors early Friday morning only to have Houston PD and the Fire Marshall come shut them down.
The club is located on the 3100 block of Bering Dr and the clubs owner Eric Langan says he opened his doors as a restaurant/ bar at midnight and authorities were at his establishment around 12:15 to shut them down.
Music and everything was turned off and the The Fire marshal and Houston police were trying to figure out if the club has the correct permits to operate as a full-service restaurant.
The Texas Attorney General’s office emphasized that bars, tattoo, massage and adult entertainment venues are not on the list of businesses allowed to reopen Friday but restaurants are, so Club Onyx said it would reopen as a restaurant with “featured entertainers.”
The state’s stay home order expired on Thursday, allowing restaurants to operate at 25% capacity starting Friday.
Langan says Club Onyx was following the guidelines, limiting the number of customers and that all the entertainers had on masks.
He also said he was not allowing any lap dancing.
The club eventually shut down after being issued a misdemeanor charge.
Langan closed his doors and said he will now be getting his attorney involved.
This investigation is ongoing.
