On Wednesday, 45-year-old Anthony Young, of Hurst, Texas, was given a 40-year prison sentence. This came after he pled guilty to the 2021 killing of his girlfriend.

65-year-old Laurel Schnick met Young at Narcotics Anonymous, and they were supposed to get married.

Because they had used all their money on drugs, they canceled their wedding.

On January 25, 2021, authorities did a welfare check at their apartment after neighbors called 911. They had heard chaos and glass and furniture breaking on the weekend that the couple was supposed to wed.

When authorities searched the apartment, they discovered Schick’s body beneath a couch. She was covered in blood and had multiple injuries.

Her cause of death was reported to be blunt force trauma to the head.
