Inmate Backups At Dallas County Jail Is Costing Taxpayers $3 Million

2.2kviews

There are many backups at the Dallas County Jail, and it is costing taxpayers an extra $3 million per month.

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price has stated that the problem is due to cases moving at a slow pace. This is taking place in the county’s 29 criminal courts.

Price has added that COVID-19 shouldn’t be a cause for these issues.

“As far as I am concerned, just not performing, not working,” he declared.

Commissioner Elba Garcia stated the extra money that is being used is going towards paying for prosecutors, public defenders, and jail equipment for remote court cases.

However, commissioners want more information about the jail expenses.
