Investigation Underway After Man Dies While Being Restrained By Multiple Officers

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a 35-year-old man after he was restrained and handcuffed by Fletcher, NC police officers.

On June 15 around 8:30 pm, officers responded to a 911 domestic dispute call from an apartment complex.

The caller stated Christopher Hensley would not leave her alone and “was possibly on drugs,” according to Fletcher police.

Responding officers came in contact with Hensely at the apartment complex.

An eyewitness filmed portions of the encounter between Hensley and officers.

There are multiple videos filmed by witnesses showing officers punching Hensley several times while he was pinned to the ground by multiple officers.

Another video shows an officer administering CPR to Hensley after he became unresponsive.

The officer administered CPR until EMS arrived and transported Hensley to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two officers were also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

One of Hensley’s neighbors witnessed police officers pin him down, taze him and punch him.

The neighbor admitted that Hensley was resisting arrest but was not acting violently by punching officers.

The investigation is ongoing.
