Jeremy Smith Indicted In Relation To Shootings At Salon In Dallas

37-year-old Jeremy Smith has been indicted and charged on several counts by a Dallas Grand Jury. This is in relation to shootings that were said to be racially motivated by bias or prejudice against Asian Americans. By Texas law, it has been identified as a hate crime.

Authorities say that on May 11, 2022, close to 2:20 p.m., Smith shot a .22 caliber rifle inside of Hair World Salon. This is located at 2216 Royal Lane in Dallas. Three people were struck by bullets as Smith is accused of firing 13 shots.

Police say that Smith shot those individuals because of his bias and prejudice against Asian Americans.

On May 16, 2022, Smith was apprehended by Dallas Police. He is still being held in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center on a $700,000 bond.

On August 4, a Grand Jury was provided with the case from Dallas County DA’s office. After looking into the matter, the Grand Jury determined that there was enough evidence to find probable cause.

Thus, Smith is facing seven indictments in connection to the hate crime.
