Kyle Rittenhouse has been declared not guilty on all counts by a jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The decision came down after the jury took 4 days to come up with a verdict. The trial lasted a total of 15 days.

18 year-old Rittenhouse could have received a mandatory life sentence if he was found guilty and convicted.

When 29 year-old Jacob Blake was shot by police, riots in Kenosha followed.

On August 25, 2020, Rittenhouse shot and killed two people and injured another person during one of the nights of civil unrest in Kenosha. His lawyer said that Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, reacted in self-defense after being assaulted from behind.

He shot Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, Anthony Huber, 26, and Joseph Rosenbaum, 36. Rosenbaum died from his wounds.

Rittenhouse was acquitted of first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering the safety.

Police officers, media, and protesters were stationed around the Kenosha County Courthouse as the decision came down.
