“Lake Michigan Jane Doe” Identified As Missing Pregnant Woman

Detectives in Chicago have been trying to figure out who “Lake Michigan Jane Doe” was since early this month.

On Saturday, Yarianna Wheeler, 19, was identified as the woman a fisherman discovered floating in Lake Michigan on August 15. Dental records were used for identification purposes.

Authorities said Wheeler, who was six months pregnant, had been in the water for seven to twelve days.

Officials have said that the cause of death is still not known. However, an autopsy has shown there were many violent wounds on her body.

Detectives had reviewed a surveillance picture of Wheeler that assisted them in knowing where to search for the missing woman.
