Laredo Man Kidnapped, Missing After Bragging About Stealing $50,000 From the Cartel
A Texas man is missing after he allegedly bragged about stealing over $50,000 from the cartel.
According to the FBI, Erik Tadeo Ramirez was kidnapped from his Laredo home by armed masked men, forced into a truck, and taken across the border into Mexico just after midnight on March 24.
Officials say two hours prior to the kidnapping, Ramirez was on the phone with an unidentified woman bragging about stealing $50,000 from the Cartel del Noreste at a party on March 23rd around 11 p.m.
According to an affidavit, video footage of the pickup truck was discovered in Mexico an hour after the kidnapping. In the footage, a man with a bloody face is seen trying to escape out of the passenger side of the truck while it’s in motion. He was pulled back inside the vehicle by an unidentified man.
The FBI is still working to locate Ramirez and make arrests along the way.
