6-year-old Ken’Adi Nash escaped an attempted abduction outside of her residence in Hamilton, Ohio, on Wednesday.
She had been taking out the garbage when a man pulled her and tried to kidnap her.
“This guy walks by, and he touched me. He pulled me,” Ken’ Adi reported.
Nash said that she yelled and believes that is the reason that he let her go. The family’s doorbell camera recorded the 10-second occurrence.
Authorities stated that the man pulled Ken’Adi all of a sudden and attempted to take her with him.
“He wouldn’t have let go if she wouldn’t have pulled and screamed like she did,” said the girl’s dad, Ricky Nash.
Ken’Adi fled into her home after the incident and told her father what happened. Her dad then got into his vehicle and went after the man as he called authorities.
Deric McPherson, 33, was arrested by police. He faces charges of abduction and inappropriate grabbing.
Ken’Adi’s parents say that they have instructed their four daughters on how to fight off attackers. They think that because of their daughter’s smart actions, she wasn’t taken away from them.
“I’m so proud of her. So proud of her. Because as soon as she screamed, he let go. So, obviously, you know, it does work.”
