Man Arrested For Child Endangerment After Entering Elephant Habitation With 2 Year Old Daughter

A man from San Diego has been arrested and taken into custody after police say he was caught inside a zoo’s elephant habitat with his daughter who was only 2 years old.
The dramatic encounter between him and the elephant was caught on camera.
Investigators say that Jose Manuel Navarrete, 25, climbed over multiple barriers at the San Diego Zoo in hopes that he would be able to take pictures with his daughter.
The video captured the man being just feet away from the elephant. Suddenly the elephant charged toward Navarrete as he runs with his child. Nearby witnesses say he was merely seconds away from being greatly injured.
Navarrete is now facing several charges including child endangerment. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
