Man Arrested For String of Cellphone Store Robberies

A Phoenix man is behind bars after he allegedly robbed four cellphone stores while wielding a machete and pepper spray.

David Gutierrez is accused of robbing two Cricket Wireless stores and two T-Mobile stores in the Maryvale area.

It was said that Gutierrez entered both stores with a machete and demanding money. He then would take the employees into a back room and lock them in.

Authorities tracked the cellphones to an area near 23rd Avenue and Bell Road, where they found Gutierrez in the car with a woman.

Gutierrez admitted to robbing the two stores and was arrested. He faces multiple charges of armed robbery and kidnapping.
