Man Charged With 11 Year Old Autistic Boy’s Murder After Telling Police He Slipped And Fell In Dog Feces

An 11 year-old autistic boy has died from a brutal beating that happened late last month in Ferguson Falls, Minnesota.

Police officials say Reggie Bethel, 56, is responsible for the death of Mason Weston.
The boy succumbed to his injuries on August 7.
This occurred in the 1100 block of S. Mill St. right before 9 am on July 29, according to police.

Bethel initially informed officers the boy was cleaning up dog feces on the floor and he slipped, fell backwards and hit his head.
Officers described the boy as laying on the couch unresponsive when they arrived.

The child had fresh cuts on his chin, forehead, right eye, and ear, accompanied with bruising on his left eye and cheek.

The mother of the boy, Christina Herren, initially corroborated Bethel’s story.
However, she later recanted admitting Bethel told her to lie. She admitted Bethel banged her son’s head on the wall multiple times, as well as the floor.

Investigators confronted Bethel with the evidence and he later admitted that he was frustrated with the child.

Bethel told investigators he grabbed the boy and banged his head against the wall four or five times.
Adding he kicked the boy while he was on the floor.

He claimed he initially lied to police due to being scared and admitted he told the mother to lie.
He told investigators he had anger management problems that he wasn’t able to control.

Bethel was initially charged with assault, child endangerment, and malicious punishment of a child.
His charges have been upgraded to second-degree murder, first and second-degree manslaughter.
