31-year-old DJ Ferguson is fighting to live at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He needs a heart transplant in order to survive.

“My son has gone to the edge of death to stick to his guns. He’s been pushed to the limit,” his father stated.

Relatives of Ferguson’s stated that he was at the top of the list to get a transplant. However, when he chose not to get the COVID-19 vaccination, he eliminated all chances to get the operation because of hospitals regulations.

“Post any transplant, kidney, heart, whatever, your immune system is shut off. The flu could kill you. A cold could kill you. COVID could kill you. The organs are scarce. We aren’t going to distribute them to someone who has a poor chance of living. Not when others who are vaccinated have a better chance post-surgery of survival,” Dr. Arthur Caplan, a Head Of Medical Ethics stated.

Ferguson, a father of two and expecting another, isn’t certain what he will do. The family would like to place him in a different hospital, but he may not be strong enough.

Ferguson has gotten great treatment from the healthcare workers at the hospital. But, his family is displeased with the heart transplant COVID vaccination policy.

The family is agreeing with Ferguson and is keeping the faith. “It’s his body. It’s his choice,” his father added.
