Man Dies In Richardson Following Chase With Garland Police


On Wednesday night, a car chase resulted in a crash, and one person died while others had to be hospitalized.

The police department in Garland, Texas, stated that the chase was with officers and the person who is deceased. No officers were hurt in the occurrence.

Individuals at the scene noted that a person had been driving a Dodge Challenger and had been attempting to escape authorities when the wreck happened at the crossing of Centennial Blvd. and South Greenville Avenue.

Richardson officers had responded to the wreck at about 10:15 p.m. They said that a driver had run a red light as he was going west on Centennial. He then hit a pickup truck that was going south on Greenville.

The driver was then taken to a medical facility where he was pronounced dead. He has been named as Luismauricio Ortiz, 25.

Two people who had been inside of the suspect car and the person in the pickup  truck were placed in the hospital. They are expected to survive.

An investigation is on-going.
