Man Fatally Shoots Neighbor Breaking Into His Home

On July, 29, around 7:20 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a homeowner who claimed he shot and killed somebody for trying to break into his home in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Police arrived to the home on 66th Ave. NW and 87 St. NW to find a 36-year-old man dead on the back porch. The 59-year-old homeowner who wasn’t identified, was taken into custody for questioning.

Detectives later learned that the 36 year old man lived next door with his girlfriend. The two got into an argument Thursday night and she went and stayed at the neighbor’s home. She had an active no-contact order against her boyfriend, according to the police.

Friday morning the 36-year-old man came to the residence making threats to his girlfriend and everyone who lived in the home. He then attempted to break into the home resulting in him being shot by the homeowner.
