Antone Pate, 29, has been accused of killing is mother in Ferguson, Missouri.
On Friday, Pate was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and resisting/interfering with an arrest.
Authorities say that the mother had called another son because she no longer wanted Pate to live there. When the call was disconnected, the other son went to his mom’s residence where he discovered her being stabbed by his brother.
Close to 7:45 p.m., on Thursday, police responded to the disturbance. They discovered that a suspect had stabbed his mother multiple times while a fight was going on.
His brother attempted to end the assault by shooting Pate in the back.
The mother was treated for her injuries by Ferguson Fire and EMS who conducted life-saving measures. She was transported to a medical facility and then succumbed to her wounds.
When Pate was being apprehended, authorities say that he attacked them. He was also transported to a hospital for his wounds. Police say that he will survive.
Pate is in custody and has a $500,000 cash bond.
