Man Kills Wife and Three Children Then Shoots Himself But Survives Injuries and is Arrested for Murder
A Michigan man who killed his wife and three kids, then pulled the trigger on himself, has survived his injuries and is now in jail with out a bond.
Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple gun shots coming from a residence on Friday, May 27.
Deputies arrived to the home and found a 40-year-old woman and three small children dead from apparent gunshot wounds. A man suffering a gunshot wound to the face, was transported to the hospital for treatment. The 51-year-old man, Charles Gillard, was in critical condition when he arrived.
Investigators say Gillard murdered his wife, Dawn Gillard and their three children; Joshua Gillard, 3, Ronald Gillard, 4, and Katelynn Gillard, 6. He then attempted to take his life and shot himself in the face.
Gillard underwent multiple surgeries and was hospitalized for over a month.
He was released from the hospital and taken into custody on June 27.
Charles Gillard is charged with 4 counts of homicide and 3 counts of cruelty to children. He’s also facing multiple weapons offense charges.
He is being held without bond.
