An Indiana man has been sentenced to 76 years in prison for entering a home, killing a man and setting his body on fire, and then stealing his car.

In August of 2018, 51-year-old Danny Clark murdered William Toosley after Toosley entered the home Clark was unlawfully hiding in.

Clark broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home, carrying a shotgun, and waited around inside. The woman, who happened to be out of town, had given her friend, Toosley, permission to stop by her house to run an errand.

When Toosley entered the house, Clark, who had been there for two days, aimed the gun at him and ordered him to the ground. Clark then used the gun to strike him in the head multiple times, killing him.

Clark then set Toosley’s body and the house on fire before leaving in Toosley’s car.

After fleeing the area and being on-the-run for 2 weeks, Clark was found and arrested in Louisiana.

Toosley’s body was found laying face down near the front door, inside of the home. An autopsy determined that he died from repeat blunt force trauma to the back of his head, a homicide. 80% of his body had also been burned from the fire.

On Friday Clark was sentenced to 60 years for the murder and 15 years for arson, abuse of corpse, resisting law enforcement and auto theft charges. An extra year was also added for an invasion of privacy charge.

The sentences will be served consecutively.
