Mansfield school district and ISD police are investigating after a gun was found in a students backpack Wednesday.
The gun was found by officials at Ben Barber Innovation Academy during an unrelated incident.
The gun was found inside a backpack outside the classroom.
In a statement released by the principal they said the weapon was quickly confiscated and no one was injured.
He also said that the student had attended morning classes at Legacy High School.
The student has been arrested and charged with a felony possession of a firearm.
