Marvin Scott III’s In Custody Death Ruled A Homicide


The Collin County Medical Examiner’s office ruled Marvin Scott III‘s in custody death a homicide Wednesday morning.
Collin County’s Medical Examiner announced Wednesday that Marvin Scott III cause of death was “fatal acute stress response in an individual with previously diagnosed schizophrenia during restraint struggle with law enforcement.”
Scott was killed on March 14 when officers were called to Allen Premium Outlet mall for a disturbance.
They found Scott,26 sitting next to a joint and arrested him for possession of marijuana.
Once in police custody officers said Scott started “exhibiting strange behavior”, so they
pepper sprayed, restrained and then placed a spit bag over his head.
On March 16, 7 officers were terminated and all of them filed for appeal.
One officer won the appeal and got their job back Tuesday.
