Mavericks Player, Luka Doncic, In Legal Dispute With Mother Over His Trademark

2.3kviews

NBA star athlete Luka Doncic is currently in a legal battle with his mother, Mirjam Poterbin.

Doncic confirmed that he filed a petition with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in relation to canceling the “LUKA DONCIC 7” trademark. It is under the management of his mother, and she has refused to release it.

“I have a lot to look forward to as I continue to grow as a player and a person. It’s important to me to control my own brand and focus on giving back to my communities,” Doncic stated.

During his rookie year, in 2018, Doncic allowed his mom to register his name as a trademark. Last year, the Mavericks player attempted, in writing, to get his mother business to give up the trademark. However, it never happened.

Last season, Doncic launched a new logo on his Jordan Brand shoes and clothing. It used his initials, LD, his number, 77, and the letter ‘S’ for his native country, Slovenia.

On the other hand, he tried to trademark the name “Luka Doncic” and it was first denied by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

It is reported that Doncic’s new filing was a “last resort in a bid to gain full control over his name, brand, charitable foundation and business affairs since conflicting trademarks prevent Doncic from holding clear rights to use his own name.”

what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I
too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any tips and hints for beginner blog writers?
    I’d really appreciate it.
