Memphis Woman Accused Of Killing 2-Year-Old Boy Captured In Glenn Heights

A Memphis woman that is said to have murdered a 2-year-old boy was captured in Texas by U.S. Marshals.

On Monday, Sharday Bakare was captured by U.S. Marshals for first-degree murder, aggravated child neglect, and aggravated child abuse.

All three counts are connected to the death of 2-year-old Anthony Bakare. He was found unresponsive inside of a residence back in September. He was swiftly transported to a medical facility but was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities say that the child was not breathing, blood was coming from his mouth, and bruises could be seen throughout his body.

22-year-old Anthony Andrews, the mother’s boyfriend, was apprehended.

Police say that he confessed to hitting the child “seven to eight times” using a braided dog toy. He had struck the child in the back, face, and buttocks on Monday morning. A few weeks prior to that, he had struck the child “harder than he should have,” using a belt.

Andrews was eventually charged with first-degree murder.

U.S. Marshals were able to track down Bakare on June 17 at a residence in Glenn Heights, Texas.

She was arrested and will soon be extradited back to Memphis.
