On Friday, a 13-year-old teen from Dallas was found in Lexington, North Carolina, after having gone missing. Authorities say that the girl was found in a locked shed after being missing for two weeks.
Reports indicate that the teen met up with her supposed kidnapper, Jorge Camacho, 34, close to apartments on Highland Rd. This was after talking and playing games with him on social media sites.
Camacho has been charged with eight felony counts, including human trafficking, rape, and indecent liberties with a child. He was placed in custody, and his bond was set at $1 million.
Authorities say that evidence found showed that the teen had been groomed and persuaded to leave her home to meet Camacho. The girl’s mother said that the two had been talking for a while on the chat platform, Discord.
With the assistance of the FBI, the teen and suspect’s whereabouts became known. After a tipster had notified authorities about where Camacho could be, a traffic stop was performed.
His car was also the same vehicle seen close to the apartments in Dallas where the girl had been taken.
After the teen was located in an outbuilding on a piece of land, she was transported to a medical facility for treatment. She is now back home with her relatives.
Other people who reside on the property noted that Camacho lived in the shed that was his room. They added that they had no idea that the teen had been inside.
The investigation is ongoing.
