Ex-MMA fighter, Dwayne Herelle Jr., 28, has been charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend, Irene Torres, last Jan. 29, in Tennessee. She had been stabbed 17 times, and her body was hidden in a closet.

“She was dragged and stabbed repeatedly in front of her [parents’] home,” wrote Reyna Dougas’, Torres’ sister, on a GoFundMe page.

“Irene showed immense bravery in leaving her abusive relationship and was so happy to start her new life with the support of her family, only to be hunted down in her front yard and brutally murdered one month later,” she continued.

Reports indicate that Herelle waited for Torres, 24, outside her residence, attacked and stabbed her 17 times, then placed her body in the trunk of his vehicle, drove home, and put her body in his closet. The two had apparently had an argument.

Torres’ parents had looked at home surveillance footage and observed Herelle assaulting Irene Torres. The father then traveled to the ex-fighter’s residence and approached him. Herelle is said to have told the father that Torres was at a hotel prior to admitting to him that he killed her.

Torres’ sister has called the murder “senseless” but added that her memory will carry on.
