A mother and son are facing charges for running a prostitution ring out of Dallas.
According to federal documents Helen Yu Kim,58 and her son Daniel Mendoza,26 tried to offer women and drugs to an undercover officer. Mendoza met the officer during a drug exchange in which he mentioned his mothers prostitution ring to the undercover.
The officers set up a prostitution sting and asked if they could get about 20 girls. Mendoza told them the price would be $2000 per girl if they chose to meet in a hotel. He also asked the officers if they would need any kind of enhancers such as cocaine, viagra or cialis.
The informants set up several meetings with Mendoza and Kim throughout the month of September in which one of those meetings Mendoza told informants that his mother was able to get the girls but they would have to pay a down payment of $20,000 and she inspect the hotel room beforehand.
After negotiating the down payment to $5000 Mendoza and Kim met up with the informant on October 5 at a Starbucks to exchange money and set the date for November 1. She set up a time for them to meet up with a few of the ladies that were going to be in the hotel.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Mendoza and Kim and they were both taken into custody November 1 and charged with using a facility in interstate commerce to promote prostitution.
