Netflix Employee Terminated After Disclosing Financial Matters On Dave Chappelle’s New Special

Netflix announced that they terminated a worker for revealing private financial information about Dave Chappelle’s new special, “The Closer.”

The information was published in a Bloomberg’s news article. It stated that Netflix paid $24.1 million on “The Closer” which first broadcasted last week.

The company narrowed down who gave out the information by analyzing its internal access log. They said that the person “admitted that they downloaded and shared sensitive company information externally.”

When the special first aired on October 1, it received 10 million views. But, Chappelle’s comments about transgender people caused many individuals to protest at the company and in the LBGTQ community.

GLAAD, a media watchdog group, has said that the special violates the company’s “anti-LGBTQ content” regulations that prohibits shows that encourage hate or violence. However, the CEO of Netflix doesn’t agree that “The Closer” contains language of hate.

Transgender workers and co-workers are now being encouraged to take part in a walkout at the company on Wednesday.
