A new bill in Illinois could allow SNAP users to buy fast food from restaurants.
The bill is called Restaurant Meals Program, bill HB 3343 which would allow SNAP recipients to use their monthly benefits at certain restaurants.
If the bill was to pass only people over 60, homeless and with certain disabilities would be able to receive this benefit.
California and Arizona are the only states so far using a similar program like this that allows people to buy food from Subway and Jack In The Box.
If the law passes it will take effect January 1,2020.
