Governor Greg Abbott signed a new bill into law on Tuesday. This new law tightens Texas’ strict voting laws even more. 24-hour and drive-thru voting are now banned in Texas.
The new restrictions put Texas on the list of Republican-controlled states. There are more than a dozen other states on the list as well.
Abbott’s new bill is directed towards areas like Houston. Houston offered both types of voting previously. It’s also aimed to block counties from sending mail-in voting applications.
Many citizens against this new bill have already began filing lawsuits in Federal Court.
