An investigation is underway in Fort Worth following an incident where a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the hand with a firearm.
Police responded to a report of the shooting in the 1500 block of Burmeister Road at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers found the boy with a gunshot wound to his hand.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Due to his age, his identity has not been disclosed. It is unclear whether he was supervised at the time or how he gained access to the weapon.
The Crimes Against Children Unit has been alerted, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
