A body was discovered inside a vehicle that was ablaze after Miami-Dade firefighters extinguished a car fire at a shopping plaza parking lot.
The incident occurred Monday evening, just before 7:30 p.m., outside a Murphy’s gas station located near SW 136 Avenue and SW 288 Street, when Miami-Dade officers responded to reports of a vehicle on fire.
Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames and attempted to extinguish it themselves, but were unsuccessful. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then arrived, put out the fire, and the body was subsequently found inside.
Witnesses reported that there were frantic efforts to rescue the individual trapped inside, but these efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
The sheriff’s office stated that they are working to identify the person and determine their gender.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation.
