A Dallas County inmate has been charged with murder after allegedly supplying fentanyl to another inmate, which resulted in her overdose death.
Reports indicate that during routine patrols, detention officers discovered four female inmates suffering. All four women were transported to Parkland Hospital for treatment of suspected overdoses.
One of the women, 21-year-old Quinnetta Brinkley, died at the hospital from her overdose.
Deputies have charged 26-year-old Daisy Zuniga with murder in connection with Brinkley’s death. Witnesses reported that Zuniga had smuggled drugs into the jail—specifically fentanyl concealed in her body cavity—and had distributed these drugs to Brinkley and two other inmates.
Zuniga admitted to law enforcement that she brought fentanyl, methamphetamine, and Xanax into the facility and had shared these substances with other inmates prior to their becoming unresponsive.
She faces charges of murder for providing fentanyl that caused a death, as well as possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass.
Her bond has been set at $501,000.
