A man is in custody and facing homicide charges following a deadly stabbing.
On May 13, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Dallas police responded to a stabbing report in the 4500 block of Helen Street. Upon arrival officers found 83-year-old Verner Johnson at the scene with stab wounds. Johnson later died from his injuries.
The suspect, 21-year-old Derrick Wicker, has been taken into custody and charged with murder. He is being held without bail at Dallas County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
