Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with a shooting in Dallas.

At approximately 4:25 a.m. on July 21, 2025, law enforcement responded to a report of gunfire in the 2000 block of West Northwest Highway.

Early investigation shows that following a conflict between two groups, 23-year-old Anthony Cristobal drew a firearm from a vehicle and pointed it at 22-year-old Anthony Aguilera. Luisadolfo Mena, 26, a commissioned security guard hired by a nearby business, observed Cristobal with the gun and shouted commands for him to drop it.

During the altercation, Aguilera approached and attacked a member of Cristobal’s group. In response, Cristobal fired his weapon, leading Mena to return fire. Heriberto Aguilera, 21, also shot at Cristobal. Cristobal was hit and fell; security personnel began first aid until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived and transported him to the hospital where he later died.

Anthony Aguilera has been detained and charged with assault related to the incident, and remains in Dallas County Jail.

Heriberto Aguilera was also arrested and faces weapons charges.
